I have been in software product engineering for over 24 years now. Have seen the software engineering process evolve over time. Have seen what a heavyweight "first, design it all" approach results in – many quarters of design and development resulting in thousands of defects and quarters of stabilizing periods before a working piece is shipped out. Thus I am excited about the values espoused by the Agile Manifesto.
